Hi, Well, has anyone taken advantage of the Government's 'brilliant' idea to get your perfectly decent 10 year + old car crushed and be allowed a £1,000 discount (plus whatever the manufacturer chucks in the pot) against a new car?
Promoted as a 'green' idea (which doesn't take into account the tremendous amount of energy used in making a car), it will put quite a few pennies in the Government's pot through VAT.. especially if someone trades against a top of the range 4x4!
Having said that, you can probably get a better discount without using the 'Scrappage' offer and just going into the showroom and asking! Especially if you're not after a low-spec cheapy!
