Prodrive enters World Rally Car in Scooby Sprint Championship

Prodrive will be running the latest Prodrive Impreza WRC2008 World Rally Car on the 2009 Scooby Sprint Championship, in support of the UK fans and Subaru enthusiasts that are expected to flock to the events (first at Elvington airfield, York - 19 April).

Scooby Sprint is a one-make UK series for Subarus, allowing privateer road car owners to compete against the clock and pit themselves against the fastest and most advanced Subaru machinery on earth.

Entered as a 2009 Constructor Team, Prodrive is self-funding the programme, and will run the latest full specification WRC on the five rounds (Calendar at www.ScoobySprint.com).

Simon de Banke of Scooby Sprint said: "We're delighted to have Prodrive onboard, and it shows their commitment and loyalty to the UK Subaru enthusiasts. It will be great to see the car tearing up the tarmac at the first event. Amazingly, the Prodrive WRC won't be the most powerful car there on paper, due to the WRC-regulation turbo-restrictor. We have entries running more than 800 horse power. But with the might of Prodrive engineering and the technology they've built into the car, I think there will be a few surprised looks once the times for the first stage are in! It will certainly be a spectacle."

Steve Smith, Prodrive car sales manager, said: “Scooby Sprint is a great concept. The Subaru community has been a fervent supporter of Prodrive and rallying for nearly two decades so it’s great to be able to show our thanks to them by competing with one of our latest specification Impreza World Rally Cars. We are fully aware that there are some very highly tuned Imprezas out there and we know every one of them will be aiming to beat us. But let’s be clear, we are not coming along for the ride.”

If you own a Subaru, you can enter the championship right now at www.ScoobySprint.com and compare your performance, for the first time ever, with a genuine Prodrive World Rally Car.
